Quirky series find critical raves, but few viewers

NEW YORK - Is the situation comedy dead? Or merely evolving? Candrama and comedy co-exist on one show? Two smartly written, if low-rated programs have their season send-offs this evening.

First is "NewsRadio" (8:30 p.m., NBC, TV-PG) has always been onthe verge of cancellation. More ink has been spilled about thisshow's travails than its comedic triumphs.
