Fed: Australia is sick if it doesn t support apology Melham

The federal opposition says Australia is a sick country if it supports Prime Minister
JOHN HOWARD'S refusal to formally apologise for the stolen generation.

And Opposition Aboriginal affairs spokesman DARYL MELHAM has criticised polling that
shows the prime minister's stance is popular in the regions and outer suburbs.

He's told the Nine Network if that's the government's motive, then it's a pretty sick
government and it's a sick country.

He says his view is that if you do the right thing and understand the hurt and trauma,
then the country can move on
