Qld: Buyers licence of transport company suspended
Fuel rort investigations in Queensland have led to the buyers licence of a national
transport company being cancelled.
State parliament has heard Queensland's Commissioner for Stamp Duties had caught the
company, Roadmaster Haulage Pty Ltd, buying subsidised fuel in Queensland and selling
it interstate at non-subsidised prices.
Treasurer DAVID HAMILL says details of how much fuel the road haulage company has on-sold
are still to be determined, but about 3.3 million litres had been detected.
Mr HAMILL says the Queensland government will try to recover the money - believed to
be up to $500,000 paid illegally to the road haulage company under the state's 8.3 cent
a litre fuel subsidy scheme.
Fuel wholesalers were advised yesterday not to sell subsidised fuel to Roadmaster Haulage.
